Harvest...

We celebrated the harvest in style this Friday.  We squeezed in reading, writing, and math between picking, roasting, and blending veggies from our garden to concoct an amazing sauce we needed to make a really great pizza. We used all locally grown veggies, including garlic, onion, carrot, tomato, Swiss chard, and purple bell pepper!  In the afternoon, kids tossed dough, topped it with their saucy creation (and LOTS of mozzarella), and baked it! It was tasty and made with love. The ten of us ate our share, picnic style, out on the big field.  As we ate, we all enjoyed an impromptu conversation about the things we were thankful for. Everyone had something to say, and everyone ate the pizza!  Kids took the opportunity to express thoughtful ideas about the good things life has to offer. They recognized their appreciation for "family, gardens, friends, bugs, healthy food, pizza, learning," and lots more.
